Spirit Fingers

This past weekend, College Game Day (ESPN’s college football show) came to the heights. Even though it was absolutely miserable out, we’re talking below fifty degrees and raining, herds of people flocked to the set before sunrise (I was among the crowd). As we stood there holing our (AWESOME) poster, drenched, cold and hungry, we couldn’t help but notice the amount of school spirit that surronded us. Everyone was decked out in maroon and gold- no one looked as miserable as we seemed and the energy level was high. Now, compared to my high school, I was living the dream Saturday morning...I live for spirit days. Back at good ole NHS, no one (and I mean NO ONE) wanted anything to do with school spirit so much so that I ended up canceling spirit week because it was a waste of my time…but that attitude is no where to be found at Boston College. Here on the heights, we bleed maroon and gold.

Now, it was understandble that people were going to go balls to the walls to be on national TV, but the thing is, no matter the day, you cannot go two minutes without seeing someone wearing BC attire. Whether it be a sweatshirt, T-shirt, or hat, the students here love rep-in’ the maroon and gold. Superfan shirts flood the crowd at any game and on big game days, expect to see face paint, body paint, and hear a whole lot of chanting. I think that’s what I fell in love with here at Boston College, everyone loves being here and isn’t afraid to show it. I often find myself in a BC jumpsuit, but I'm not alone, everyone does it. Maybe its the "cute" eagle (as Janelle would say), or maybe its the fact that athletes are EVERYWHERE and have more BC attire than I have brains...but it's absolutley awesome to see the pride people take in their school. If my dad could wear BC clothing every day he would...and my brother who graduated from Bentley recently admitted that he has more BC clothing than his own alma mater.

So keep up the spirit Boston College, and here are some outfits worthy of recognition (If I say so myself):

This here is Janelle and I at 6:45 AM wearing the "BC Beats Cancer" shirt. We also dyed our hair maroon and gold and applied body stickers. It was game time, even so early in the AM.

If you watched College Game Day, this might look familiar because it was all over TV. Our "cute" eagle was about 5 feet wide and 4 feet tall and took 7 hours to complete (including lamination).

This is before the BC vs. FSU game (eagle victory)- chilly and wet but still looking fiiiine

In this picture, I pose with the Fitzegerald's before a big hockey game. Sunglasses are crutial- the sun never sets on a badass.

remember: WE ARE... BC.
