Sitting in class, I can’t help but wonder what some of my professor’s closets look like. I know I should be focusing on the subject at at hand, but I can’t help it- clothes are just THAT much more interesting. I find myself asking questions like, does my law professor really coordinate all of her outfits around white tights (answer: YES!) and does my art teacher throw together these gorgeous outfits or do they just fall on her tiny frame flawlessly (answer: undecided)? So now it’s our turn to turn the red pen back at them…
PULSE professor: B

Sorry for the lack of pictures this week! Hopefully our descriptions paint an apt picture of our professors for you!
Law professor Grade: C-
Ok, I really like the woman, she has a great heart and is really a tremendous lecturer but when it comes to clothes, she’s lacking. I totally get that some women are so intellectually bright that they lack a fashion sense, but I am not one and so therefore, I shall critique. Every outfit she has worn for the past month has revolved around white tights. I am not just being a creep remembering these things though, the boys who sits next to be asked me if she always wore the same tights and a friend that had her last year said the same thing as well. Truthfully, I really can’t stand white tights. I don’t think they are at all flattering and with most outfits they look infantile. Her skirts have potential to be really cute…last week she had a darling salmon and white polka-dotted skirt that would have been perfect paired with a ribbed sweater and no tights (it was still warm!). But now that it is cooler, maybe a brown, black or grey tight would suffice, the white ones my friend…have GOT to go.

Pulse is a class combining philosophy, theology and community service so my professor is an incredibly well rounded, erudite woman who has a wide array of knowledge. She is such a cute woman that I want to play dress up with her because her clothes make her look so much older than she really is. She has two children, one in 6th grade and one in 3rd so she can’t be too old, yet she dresses every class in pants a blazer- without fail. Her blazers are lovely for what they are…tailored, colorful and she accessorizes magnificently. I wish her shoes provided a little more shamwow to her outfits but I will hopefully have some time to rub off on her; this class is a small discussion so I have time to leave my mark.

Econ professor: A-
I love this man. I don’t know if it’s because he is an absolute goof or because I understand 1/3 of what comes out of his mouth (he has a thick Italian accent), but the truth is, he always looks dapper when he arrives frazzled to class. He has lovely blue khaki pants and a wide variety of Polo button downs, collared shirts and sweaters. His shoes are leather right from Italy and his hair is always polished. So I’m describing him as the man about town, so why the A-? He needs to switch it up a little; I’d like to see a little more variation in the pants department and the one Friday he wore jeans…they were dad jeans. YIKES.

Art professor: A
This woman knows how to dress. Last year, I walked in to class and found myself interacting with an absolute nut case. This woman is your typical art teacher, drawing on walls, posing with the models, screaming and jumping about. You would expect an art teacher to wear smocks and have absolutely dirty clothes covered in all types of materials- not this woman. Last week to class she came in a beautiful blue and crème wrap dress paired with stunning bronze wedges. The week before that was adorable (and fun!) blue snake skin pants (she’s so tiny she can basically wear anything), a funky top and banging navy boots. Now her hair is always disheveled, but I am throwing her a bone because I just love her that much. Her messy tresses could use a little chop chop but her clothes are heavenly. You would never know she is such a fabulous artist from just looking at her- she is never dirty and her clothes are always immaculate (when I leave art class I am always covered in charcoal and have paint stains on my pants).
For Madeline lots of art teachers this year means a lot of fun outfits to look at. Or so I thought it would. I've been strangely disapointed with my teachers clothes, but maybe I was expecting too much....
Drawing Teacher - B-
As a young art teacher, a lot is expected from you - my teacher seems so hip and cool and innovative artistically that I thought this would translate into her wardrobe. It does not. I only see her every other day twice a week, and so maybe this is a wrong assumption, but she wears the same pair of jeans every day. This is disapointing. She also wears her flare pair of jeans with sneakers ( I cring) and a plain t-shirt, the color of the shirt changes between creme and black. She never looks bad persay, but her appearance does not at all match her stellar personality and creative spirit. She could do so much better. One thing she does do well is play with her hair - one day she came in an it was completely shaved off - and bleached leopard print. That is a statement if I've ever seen one.
Photography Teacher - C-/D
This professor is What Not To Wear material. Not only is it the same clothes every day, but its the same bad clothes. She wears a black oversized men's t-shirt over black jeans with some black punky sneakers that are far to young for her. Personally I feel like she's an extension of the dark-room. NOthing she wears flatters her figure, and her clothes don't say anything about her personality. Oh, I forgot that sometimes she throws on a chunky knit sweater which shows she has some sense of anything related to fashion - but she still is pretty clueless and crazy when it comes to clothing. I wish she didn't just give up!
Modern Art History Teacher - B+
The first time I laid eyes on this goddess of a woman, I was astounded. She looke fierce. She had a black trench that lay open to reveal a loose and flowy gray dress underneath, with a scarf thrown haphazardly around her neck. Her legs were adorn with black opaque tights, and on her feet were chunky knit socks stuffed into what look like some Asian inspired platform sandals with two velcro straps. Those shoes were a statement, especially with the socks. So she looked pretty awesome, and I only give her a B+ for her overall fashion sense because she never wears anything but this. I'm sorry but all of these artists need to make up some alternative outfits.
American Culture Professors - A-
This class is team taught, and between the two professors I am never disapointed in what they are wearing. The older male professor of the two is not all that exciting, he keeps his look collegiate, with tweed, elbow patches and leather shoes. The younger female teacher, who comes in from Brooklyn to teach, has a fine eye for fashion. She loves to wear sheath dresses and this one pair of espadrill wedges that is the only pair of espadrills that I do not find 100 percent heinous. She uses color brilliantly and all of her clothes had intricate little details that always surprise me. Between the two teachers, their fashions gets a good, but not perfect grade in my book.
Italian Professor - B+
For old man style, this guy has got it going on. Clearly the good eye for style that Italians have has rubbed off on him. He always looks professional with out looking too stuffy. Usually he wears pants and a dress shirt, both not all that much remarkable, but with a very adorable tweed jacket in some type of pattern. My favorite was this week when he worn a light brown tweed jacket with a darker brown window-pane pattern on it. Also, he does a great job of hiding his imperfections - and unlike many men with a rotund belly he does not wear his pants belted right below the protrusion. Mostly he reminds me of my italian grandfather, and what could be better than that?
Keep it classy this weekend!!
