The Academy Awards are the biggest show of runway fashion of the year. Sometimes entire collections are based around looks aimed at celebrity red carpet fashion. There is so much that goes into a good runway look, a major part of that being illusion and fantasy, but it is always fun looking at who wore what. So, answering the most important question of the night: Who are you wearing?

Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel. Ugh, girl, SJP, I love ya, but you're making it hard for me to defend you here. I'm really not a fan of these skinny, shapeless dresses, and I'm also not really a fan of yellow, so maybe its just that deadly combination thats got my eyes rolling back at this look. The only thing giving that dress shape is Matthew Broderick's hand. Husband and human belt, how handy! Also, silver and yellow is pushing a weird button for me. Make up and hair are a little intense, also. I hate to not like it, but I just don't.

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa. Lady of the evening, Best Actress winner. I'll warn you, I really have a distaste against Sandra Bullock. I think she's really irritating, and keeps on churning out corny, silly movie, after corny silly movie. She may be the first to admit it, but I don't think that makes her more honorable. I also don't think she should have won Best Actress, but thats besides the point. What I think about her outfit: I think the dress is great, it hangs lusciously over her curves, and makes a bold statement with the metallic glow. The play with textures in the lace detailing up top makes the dress more dynamic and interesting. A lot of people are saying she looks like she was dressed a little too much like the golden statue she was expecting to win, but sometimes that positive attitude helps in getting you what you want. I hate her hair and make up. They are stiff and awkward and don't really fit with the look of the dress. Moving on.

I'm probably the only one still watching The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but my Tuesday nights would be really boring with out it. Sue me! I thought Molly Ringwald looked great, or at least a hell of a lot thinner than she has been looking on the show. That deep purple is a great color for her, and other red-heads alike, and the metal detail creates a unique point of interest to the dress that you don't usually see in a Award's show dress.

Miley in Jenny Packham. Like with SJP, this pains me to say: I'm not feeling it. To her hair: I know the Jersey Shore is on the rise in popularity, but only ironically, and thats to say, get rid of the Blowout, Miley. Also, I hate the two textures of the dress juxtaposed. I wish the whole dress was made from the material of the skirt. Two-toned gold is just not doing it for me. All around just not feeling it, she looks slouchy and dumpy, instead of regal.

Kathryn Bigelow in Yves Saint Laurent. It was really cool to see the first women win Best Director, and it was pretty obvious that she was extremely excited, nervous and overwhelmed. I didn't think she looked awful, but I don't particularly love her dress. She has an amazing figure, but the seeming on the hip area of the dress and the high neckline of the dress make her look stuffy. I love her hair, and like the color of the dress though.

Kate Winslet in Yves Saint Laurent. I think this was a really unique look, and she rocked it. She looks like a sleeker version of old Hollywood. Her blonde locks accent the color of the dress perfectly, and her huge bling adds the perfect amount of sparkle. I thought it was a great success.

Jennifer Lopez in Armani Privé. Looking nuts. Compare this in your head to the bronze skin tight jumpsuit she wore on New Years. All over the place. Its way too much for me. Definitely a "Go Big AND Go Home."

Gabourney Sidibe in Marchesa. This look was adorable, and so appropriate for a first nomination. She looks like an ingenue, to bring out a favorite word. I love the color, and her hair and the lace appliqué. Good work!

Demi Moore in Versace. This was one of my favorite dresses from the night. She looked damn good. Her hair dangles perfectly like the many ruffles of her dress. Hers is an example of when ruffles perfectly compliment the contours of the body, unlike many dresses where ruffles are terribly unflattering. The color of the dress might wash out some complexions, but with her flawless tan she radiates in it.

Cameron Diaz in Oscar de La Renta. This is the best she has ever looked. For once I am not distracted by her duck lips and I am blown away by her flawlessly curled hair and the sparkle of her dress. Here is an example of where head to two in one texture really brings a whole look together. Compare this to Miley's look, and you'll see why Cameron's is so much more successful. This was a definite win.
Hope you watched, or it you didn't this post at least got you up to date!
