beach beauties

my summer life consists of one piece bathing suits at pool surronded by children during the week and a tennis skirt, bikini, and beach over the weekends. you'd be surprised how much a person can see over the course of the week... esp this past week where the heat sometimes gets the best of people's decision making abilities...

the beach (loop beach shout out) is a great place for people watching. just in an hour this weekend, it was too hot to last much longer, i saw the grossest tattoos, studded gold visors and tacky wannabe bikinis, i had no choice but to blog...

one of the things i hate most about summer beach attire is when girls wear jean shorts ROLLED OVER AND UNBUTTONED. not only is this look incredibly trashy and slutty, but it doesn't look good, on anyone. there is a button on your shorts to keep your pants shut and jean shorts (in particular) are not intended to be rolled. let's have some class even if you are tasteless.

next thing i really HATE are swim tops. children, wear them. fine. whatever. i'll live. they make you much colder than you have to be but if your parents are too lazy to apply sunscreen on you, that's their prerogative. some kids are just too pasty to be in the sun in which case swim tops are a choice. HOWEVER, ADULTS... swim tops don't hide if your fat. your belly still protrudes thru the shirt and makes you look like an even bigger tool. personal pet peeve, yes. EXAMPLE: shallow end of a pool, a 40 (ish) year old father is wearing a short sleeve TURTLENECK swim top while his three children (WITHOUT swim tops) swim around him. tool. yes. idiotic looking. yes.

one of the most underrated and under-utilized beach necessity- swim/ beach shoes. although you make feel like a doof in them, lets be real: you avoid the rocks, seaweed and crabs...your pedicure stays intact that much longer... AND you avoid wet sand/ hot sand on your feet. pluses all the way around.

a little follow up: my marc by marc one shoulder one-piece... still LOVE it but haven't had the right opportunity to wear it. i'm scared of the weird tan line people!

that's all for now. hope everyone is beating this ridiculous heat in any feasible way. its toasty cakes out there. until next time friends, stay cool!
